Raytown Schools Wellness Center Offering Swim Lessons, District Offering Free Lessons to Second Graders and Third Graders
Posted on 06/14/2017
The Raytown Schools Wellness Center began offering swim lessons to Raytown School District students in kindergarten through fifth grade in June 2017.

The fee is $40 to register. The District will waive the fee for all incoming second graders and third graders who attend school in the Raytown School District.

Sessions began June 5 and will run through August 3. Sessions are available in the mornings, evenings, and Saturdays to give parents and guardians more options. Beginning level through level 4 swim lessons are offered to cater to students’ different skill levels.

Superintendent Dr. Allan Markley said the District is excited about another opportunity to teach students skills and keep them safe in the water. “Offering swim lessons opens up new doors for our parents and students and allows us to provide an additional service to the community. We want our students to have the opportunity to learn how to swim and increase their knowledge of water safety. Swimming is also an excellent form of exercise and recreation, and we want to enhance the lives of our students inside and outside of the classroom.”

Parents can register their child for swim lessons through their MyPaymentsPlus account, which they can access on the District website. Parents of incoming third-graders who are currently taking lessons or who have signed up their child to take lessons in an upcoming session will receive a refund. Parents of incoming third grade students can call (816) 268-7135 to receive their refund.

More information can be found on the “Summer Swim Program” page under “Community” on the District website at www.raytownschools.org.
